Raftaar 2019-20


Talent wins games, but team work and intelligence wins championship.

The much awaited annual sports day, Raftaar was held on Friday, 25th October, 2019 with great zeal and excitement. It celebrated 150 years of Mahatma.

The programme began with the guard of honour escorting the chief guest Mr. Hari Krishnan CEO National Group of Institution. The houses were inspected and Mr. Krishnan took the salute of the impressive march past of the four houses. Mr. Krishnan emphasized on the importance of sports and asked the students to learn from PV Sindhu who had the grit, determination and willpower to play for our country.

Ms.Hemalata Pillai declared the sports meet open. The oath was administered by our abled sport captain and the Olympic flame was lit commencing the event. Energizing display celebrating the Mahatma with the hula-hoop and pompom display set the tone for the rest of the event. The energetic and well-coordinated basketball drill mesmerized the audience.

When the 150 years were formed the audience were quite moved by the amazing c-ordination of the students. Once the races began, the air were filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Races at the primary level was not about completion but the spirit of togetherness, have fun, being physically active and building co-ordination to display self-confidence, patience and sportsman ship.

A History lesson of India Struggle for Freedom was displayed to the Non-Cooperative Movement race and the Dandi march it was indeed a fun day to learn. The grade 6 to 12 had relays and the 100 meters dash. The young achievers were awarded with gold silver and bronze medals by our very own parents who highly appreciated each child and applauded the visionary element of the school which nurtures and develops their potential in the sports field.

The collective energy of the children and the facilitators added up to an energetic fun filled day the overall championship was awarded to the pioneer house.
